NX Open for CAE programming

Overview of the CAE solver languages

The CAE system architecture uses a solver-neutral design. This neutral design supports a number of solver modules or solver languages that plug in to the CAE core architecture.

  • The core architecture of CAE makes very limited assumptions about the nature and behavior of fundamental finite element modeling concepts, such as nodes, elements, boundary conditions, and solution options.

  • Solver-specific information is specified in a solver XML file. The XML file determines the valid entities for the solver and also drives the appearance of the user interface for that particular solver’s environment.

  • Currently, the CAE solver language interface supports a number of commercial finite element solvers, such as Nastran, Abaqus, ANSYS, and LS-DYNA.

When you create NX Open for CAE applications, you must work with the solver languages to determine:

  • The appropriate name string to use for an entity.

  • The list of supported properties for a given entity and the valid input for those properties.
