Example: Importing component loads into an assembly FEM simulation
Consider the following bolted assembly, containing dozens of bolted connections.
You could define bolt pre-loads in the assembly FEM simulation, but it would be tedious and time-consuming. Instead, you can create a simulation of a single component, define the pre-loads once, and import them into the assembly FEM simulation. In this example, you create a simulation of a fitting component FEM, and define a bolt pre-load on the four bolts that connect to the vertical beams.
Then, with the assembly FEM simulation file displayed, expand the assembly FEM structure in the Simulation Navigator, and control-click to select each component FEM instance in the assembly FEM structure. Choose File→Import→Simulation Entities, specify the component simulation, select Loads, and click OK.
The software imports the loads into the current simulation, checks for corresponding geometry in the selected component instances, and reattaches the loads to corresponding geometry.
