Design responses
A design response selects an output such as weight, stress, or displacement. A design objective can minimize or maximize a response. A design constraint can place bounds on a response.
Pre/Post supports only DRESP1 (first-level) responses. The following response types are supported:
| WEIGHT | CFAILURE |
|---|---|
| VOLUME | FRACCL |
| EIGN | FRDISP |
| CEIG | PRES |
| FREQ | FRFORC |
| LAMA | FRSPCF |
| DISP | FRSTRE |
| STRAIN | FRVELO |
| ESE | RMSDISP |
| STRESS | RMSVELO |
| FORCE | RMSACCL |
| SPCFORCE | TDISP |
| CSTRAIN | TVELO |
| CSTRESS | TACCL |
The Stress, Strain, and Force responses require an Item Code that specifies the type of element output and the component. For example, linear stress at the center of a CQUAD4 (element code 33), von Mises component at the Z1 fiber location (bottom side of the element) is represented by item code 9. For a list of item codes, see Item Codes in the Simcenter Nastran Quick Reference Guide.
The design response creates a DRESP1 bulk data entry in Nastran.
