Modal response functions
Using the Modal Function response evaluation, you can calculate the modal displacement functions for every active mode in transient, frequency, and random events. The modal response functions show you how each mode responds to the event excitations.
If you use the Mode Displacement data recovery method, each of the modal response functions is a contributing factor from an active mode.
If you use the Mode Acceleration data recovery method, the responses are calculated using the modal velocities and modal accelerations. You can use function differentiation and conversion commands to generate modal velocities and modal accelerations from the modal displacement functions to better understand the contribution from each mode. You can access these excitations using the Response Dynamics Function Toolkit.
Function names
Response functions are stored as function records in an AFU file with the same name as your Response Dynamics solution process.
In the AFU file, the mode ID and whether the mode is a flexible or rigid body mode are reflected in each function's name. For example, 2_(3MFLX)_1 means the function “2” is the response for mode 3, which is a flexible body mode.
Where do I find it?
