Animate streamlines

Use the following steps to animate a streamline display of steady-state velocity results.

Tip:

Use the Save Frames in Memory check box to choose to save frames in memory or load each frame during the animation.

  • If you select the Save Frames in Memory check box, the animations are smoother after the first cycle especially when an animation requires a considerable time to load each frame. Saving frames in memory requires memory.

  • If you clear the Save Frames in Memory check box, the performance of each frame of an animation is based on the time required to load each frame. However, editing and deleting the animation are faster.

  1. In the Post Processing Navigator, select the streamlines post view you want to animate. To animate multiple post views, hold Ctrl and click each post view node to select it.

  2. Choose Results tab→Animation group→Animate , or right-click a post view in the Post Processing Navigator and choose Animate.

  3. From the Animate list, select Streamline.

  4. Enter a value in Number of Increments to indicate the number of equal time increments in which to divide the total time period. The more increments, the smoother the animation. To restrict the animation to a portion of the total time period, use the Active Region sliders.

  5. Optionally, select Continuous release to animate a steady stream of pulses. If you select Continuous release:Specify the number of complete Time Periods before the animation repeats.Specify the number of Frames per Pulse. For example, if you enter 5, the animation releases a new pulse every five frames. The total number of frames in the animation equals the number of increments times the number of time periods plus 1.

  6. Click Play .
