Customize the post view color bar

For information about setting options for the color bar, see Edit post view legends.

Tip:

To directly access the Color Bar dialog box to edit the colors and the color values, right-click a legend in a post view and choose Override Value/Color. Then continue with Step 7 below.

  1. In the Post Processing Navigator, select the post view node you want to manage.

  2. Choose Results tab→Post View group→Edit Post View .Tip: You can also right-click a legend in a post view and choose Edit. The Legend dialog box appears.

  3. On the Legend tab, in the Color Bar group, from the Spacing list, select a spacing option.For more information about the spacing options, see Legend dialog box.Note: If you set Spacing to Equally Spaced, the software can automatically assist you in keeping the values in ascending order as you customize them.

  4. Specify the number of levels, scale, and spectrum for the color bar.Caution: Before you customize the color bar ranges and spectrum, be sure you have fully defined the color display type and all color and value controls. Any subsequent change to these settings reverts the color bar to its default values.

  5. Depending on how you want to customize the color bar, select the following:To customize the range of values in the levels, select the Override Value check box.To customize the colors in each level, select the Override Colors check box.

  6. Click Customize.The Color Bar dialog box appears. The number of levels displayed in the dialog box depends on the number of levels specified on the Legend page of the Post View dialog box.

  7. To modify the color range in the level, type a numeric value in the text box. The value represents the minimum value for the range. The color values must remain in ascending order. For example, if the color bar contains 12 values, Level-00 must have the lowest value and Level-12 the highest. The software marks values you change and that remain in ascending order with (green check mark).The software marks values you change that are not in ascending order and it can adjust using the Recompute Values button with (yellow warning). The Recompute Values button is available when you set Spacing to Equally Spaced in the Legend dialog box. Depending on how you set Spacing, do the following:If you set Spacing to Equally Spaced, click Recompute Values to have the software adjust the values in ascending order. You can also adjust the values yourself.When you click Recompute Values, the software recalculates the changed values and the values in the next levels so they are in ascending order. The software determines the values based on the number of levels and scale set in the Legend dialog box. For more information, see Color bars.If you set Spacing to Round Off or Level Increment, adjust the values yourself. The software marks values you change that are not in ascending order and it cannot adjust with (red X). For example, if you adjusted two color values so several values are not in ascending order, the software cannot adjust them and marks them with . You must adjust the values in ascending order yourself.

  8. To modify the color of the band, click the color swatch, and choose a color from the Color dialog box.

  9. Click OK in all dialog boxes.
