Create and manage post view templates

Create a post view template

To save your current post view settings as a template, right-click the post view in the Post Processing Navigator and choose New Template.

The template appears with the current post view name under the Templates node.

Rename a post view template

It is a good practice to give a template a meaningful name. To rename a template:

Note:

You cannot rename system templates.

  1. Right-click the template in the Post Processing Navigator and choose Rename.

  2. Enter a name in the Rename Template dialog box and click OK.

Load external post view templates

To use a post view template stored in a location other than the folder that the UGII_CAE_POST_TEMPLATE_USER_DIR environment variable specifies:

  1. Right-click the Templates node in the Post Processing Navigator and choose Load.

  2. In the File box, enter the full path and filename of the external template file, or click Browse to browse to the location.

  3. In the Name field, enter a descriptive name to appear in the Post Processing Navigator.

Reload standard post view templates

When system templates, library templates, or external templates are modified, you must reload the templates to access the latest changes.

  • Right-click the Templates node in the Post Processing Navigator and choose Reload.

Apply a template

Use one of the following methods to apply an existing template to the current post view.

  • Drag the template name to the viewport in the graphics window.

  • Right-click the template in the Post Processing Navigator and choose Apply

  • Double-click the template name.

The template settings are applied to the current post view. If you have multiple viewports displayed, the template is applied using the method specified in Layout Settings.

Set a template as the default post view

By default, if you right-click a solution in the Post Processing Navigator and choose New Post View, the software creates a deformed, smooth contour display of displacement. You can set a template as the new default.

To set a template as the new default:

  • Right-click a post view in the Post Processing Navigator and choose Make Default.

The word Default appears next to the template in the Description column in the navigator.

When you right-click a solution and choose New Post View, the software applies the settings specified in your template.

To restore the system default settings:

  • Right-click the default template and choose Remove Default.

Delete a template

  • Right-click the template in the Post Processing Navigator and choose Delete.

Note:

You cannot delete system templates.
