Curing thermoset material (Simcenter Samcef Thermal)
The thermal curing of thermosetting resins material is an extension of the classic thermal Fourier material.
From the Property View list, select Samcef Curing Thermal to display only the properties of the Simcenter Samcef thermal curing material.
Defining thermal properties
On the Thermal page, you define the thermal properties like Specific Heat (CP) or Thermal Conductivity (K).
Note:
The thermal properties can be constant, or they can be dependent on the Temperature, the Glass Transition Temperature, the Degree of Cure, or a combination of these dependencies.
Defining the curing reaction
On the Curing Reaction page, you define the curing reaction's model.
You define the Curing Heat and the Matrix Mass Fraction.
In the Cure Kinetic Model list, you can choose between the Samcef, Auto-Catalytic, n-th Order, Kamal and Sourour, Lee, Chiu and Lin, Lee, Loos and Springer, or User-Defined Cure Kinetics curing kinetic models.
Depending on your curing kinetic model choice, you define several values for the curing reaction parameters, like the Reaction Order, the Activation Energy, the Frequency of Reaction, the Threshold Degree of Cure, or the B Constant coefficient.
You also define the Glass Transition Temperature and the model of Vitrification.
For the Vitrification model, you can choose between a Glass Transition based model or a Fourier model. You then define the Diffusion coefficients and the Maximum Degree of Cure value related to the chosen model.
Note:
All the properties are constant. The Reaction Order properties and the Maximum Degree of Cure coefficient can also depend on the temperature.
A .MAT BEHAV "THERM" entry will be output in the Simcenter Samcef input file.
