Creating transition hybrid meshes

For generalized linear axisymmetric elements with twist, the following elements are transition elements:

• Element CGAX3 is the transition element of meshes with the parent element CGAX4.

• Element CGAX6 is the transition element of meshes with the parent element CGAX8.

To create CGAX3 and CGAX6 transition elements, select the parent element and set the transition options. For example, to create CGAX3H:

1. In the 2D Mesh dialog box, from the Type list, select CGAX4.

2. Set the Attempt Quad Only list to Off - Allow Triangles or On - Minimize Triangles.

3. Click OK.
