Evaluate and display upper and lower limits of worst principal stress
This example uses an envelope technique to evaluate the upper and lower limits of worst principal stress +/- the stress error norm. We create one probe to evaluate the upper limit, and one probe to evaluate the lower limit.
The envelope technique compares two or more results of the same type and component, and returns the minimum or maximum value as a unitless, scalar quantity. The selected components may belong to different load cases, iterations, or solutions, but must have the same number of components and be defined at the same output location, which can be nodal, elemental, or element-nodal.
The model is a multiphysics model with eight load sets that apply loads from 1000 to 8000 seconds.
Evaluate the upper limit of worst principal stress plus stress error norm
Choose Result Variables and create a result variable to define the values of worst principal stress, averaged across elements.Name = WPStressAvgResult Type = StressLocation = Element-NodalComponent = Tensor, Worst PrincipalCombination = Element ValueCriterion = AverageOK
Create another result variable to define stress error norm.Name = StressErrorResult Type = Stress Error NormTip: Click Show More Result Types if Stress Error Norm is not visible on the Result Type list.Location = ElementalComponent = Scalar, ScalarCombination = NoneOK
