Materials
Defining materials for Simcenter Samcef analyses (Simcenter Samcef Structure and Thermal)
In the Simcenter Samcef solver environment, you can create several material types.
Structural Materials
In Simcenter Samcef Structural analyses:
You can create Isotropic, Orthotropic, or Anisotropic elastic materials. You can add viscoelastic or viscoplastic properties. In Orthotropic materials, you can specify several fibers damage laws.
You can create hyperelastic materials: the Ogden material, the Alexander material, the Hart-Smith material, the Mooney-Rivlin material or the Hyperfoam material.
You can define a Damage Interface material to model the damage in cohesive elements.
You can define a Curing material to model the curing process in thermoset resins.
You can define a Norton viscoplastic material.
You can define a Simcenter Nastran MAT8/MATT8/MATS1 orthotropic material.
You can define a Simcenter Nastran Gasket - Strain material
You can define a Simcenter Samcef user-defined UMAT material. For more information, see Simcenter Samcef UMAT workflow.
Thermal Materials
In Simcenter Samcef Thermal analyses:
You can create Isotropic or Orthotropic thermal materials.
You can create a Fluid material used in Fluid Network definitions.
You can define a Curing material to model the curing process in thermoset resins.
For more information on all these materials, see the material page in the Simcenter Samcef solver documentation..
Where do I find it?
| Application | Pre/Post |
|---|---|
| Prerequisite | Simcenter Samcef as the specified solver |
| Command Finder | Manage Materials |
| Location in dialog box | Type list, select the material type→Create Material |
How do I
Assign a material using a mesh collector
Assign a material to a body
Find bodies with no material assignment
Filter the list of materials using a standard filter
Filter the list of materials using a custom filter
Configure columns in the material list
Use an inherited material in a physical property table
Override a material assignment in a Simulation file
Create a material
Create a new material by copying another material
Revert material properties to their inherited values
Lock an inherited material property
Specify a preferred material for a part or FEM
