Structural nonlinear solution step (Simcenter Samcef)
In a Nonlinear Analysis solution, you can define several solution steps and their related properties.
You define if the solution step is a Static, Dynamic, or Kinematic step.
On the Time page, you can define parameters related to the time computation strategy, such as time interval.
On the Solver Parameters page, you can define parameters related to the solver strategy, such as the check thresholds, or the rigid body motion stabilization.
On the Integration Scheme page, you can set integration check thresholds.
On the Storage page, you can control the storage frequency of results.
On the Continuation Methods page, you can set corrector methods.
On the User page, you can manually define parameters for the .SUBCASE Samcef command.Note: The added text must be compliant with the Simcenter Samcef command language terminology. For more information, see the Simcenter Samcef documentation.
Solution step properties
When you define a property for a solution step, the solution retains that value for the subsequent solution steps until you redefine the property.
The exception to this rule is the time values that you set on the Time page of the Solution Step dialog box. You must explicitly define time values for each solution step that you create.
Stiffness stabilization
See Stiffness stabilization in nonlinear analyses (Simcenter Samcef).
Sequentially dependent solutions steps
By default, the state (displacements, velocities, and so on) at the beginning of a current solution step is inherited from the end state of the previous one.
You can use the Subcase Initialization (.SUB RSUB) property of the Solver Parameters page to set a previous solution step number from which the current step will inherit the state.
Note:
This property must be carefully used, especially with a time-dependent load.
If the solution step number K refers to the step number J for its initial state, the load will be evaluated at time tK. If a large discontinuity exists between the load values at time tJ and at time tK, numerical problems can occur.
In the load definition, you have to ensure a smooth transition between the load values at time tJ and at time tK.
