ANSYS environment > Linear perturbation analysis
Modifying the behavior of contact pairs
You can use the Contact Element KEYOPTS Modification (CNKMOD) modeling object to modify the behavior of the contact element pairs. For example, you can change:
The units of normal contact stiffness.
The contact behavior. For example, you can change the behavior for a contact pair from Bonded to No separation, sliding permitted.
If you want to modify the contact status for all contact elements, you can use the Linear Perturbation Options (PERTURB) modeling object.
Note:
You can only use the Contact Element KEYOPTS Modification (CNKMOD) dialog box to modify CONTA174 elements, even though in ANSYS, the CNKMOD applies to other contact element types. This limitation ensures that Pre/Post can correctly export the appropriate ET data for the CKMOD command.
The options in the Contact Element KEYOPTS Modification (CNKMOD) dialog box correspond to the options for the ANSYS CNKMOD command. For more information on linear perturbation analysis in ANSYS, see Linear Perturbation Analysis in the ANSYS Mechanical APDL and Mechanical Applications Theory Reference.
Including the CNKMOD parameters in the solution
After you create a Contact Element KEYOPTS Modification (CNKMOD) modeling object, you must include the modeling object in your solution. On the Restart page in the Solution dialog box, use the Contact Element KEYOPTS Modification (CNKMOD) to specify the modeling object to include.
