Specify mode filtering

In a SOL 107 Direct Complex Eigenvalues or SOL 110 Modal Complex Eigenvalues rotor dynamic analysis, you can use mode filtering to exclude modes from being mode tracked.

  1. Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Simulation Object Type list→Rotor Dynamics Definition .

  2. In the Rotor Dynamics Definition dialog box, in the Parameters group, in the Analysis Parameters row, click Create Modeling Object .

  3. In the Rotor Dynamic Analysis Parameters dialog box, in the Properties group, from the Strain Energy Filter (SEFILT) and Kinetic Energy Filter (KEFILT) lists, select the mode filtering criterion. To filter the modes based on strain energy, from the Strain Energy Filter (SEFILT) list, select Filter Output. To filter the modes based on kinetic energy, from the Kinetic Energy Filter (KEFILT) list, select Filter Output. To filter the modes based on both strain energy and kinetic energy, from the Strain Energy Filter (SEFILT) list, select Filter Output, and from the Kinetic Energy Filter (KEFILT) list, select Filter Output. When you select both filtering criteria, only the modes whose energy contributions fall below both the strain energy and kinetic energy thresholds are excluded from mode tracking.

  4. Enter the strain energy and kinetic energy filtering thresholds. If you select strain energy filtering, in the Filter Threshold (SETHRSH) box, type the value for the strain energy threshold. If you select kinetic energy filtering, in the Filter Threshold (KETHRSH) box, type the value for the kinetic energy threshold.

  5. From the Reference Rotor (REFROT) list, select the reference rotor.

  6. In the Rotor Dynamic Analysis Parameters dialog box, click OK.

  7. In the Rotor Dynamics Definition dialog box, click OK.
