Solution Step dialog box (Abaqus), Mass Scaling page

| Mass Scaling Option | Select how to apply mass scaling. Retain Mass Scaling from Previous StepCarries forward any mass scaling methods defined in the previous step. Apply Specific Mass ScalingIntroduces mass scaling into a model. You can add more than one Mass Scaling modeling object to the step. Revert Mass Matrix to Original StateIntroduces a fixed mass scaling method in the next step to discontinue all the mass scaling methods of the previous step. If the default specification of fixed mass scaling is used, element masses revert to their original values at the beginning of the next step. Therefore, specify the Revert Mass Matrix to Original State method to prevent the scaled mass of the previous step from being used in the new step. Continuous Mass Matrix with no Further ScalingRemoves any variable mass scaling definitions inherited from the previous step by redefining a new variable mass scaling definition. |
