Revolving elements

Use Element Revolve to revolve element edges into 2D (shell or plate elements) or element faces into 3D (solid) elements. You can revolve elements about any axis you define. For example, you can revolve:

  • The edge of a 2D quadrilateral element into a series of 2D quadrilateral elements.

  • The face of a 2D triangular element into a 3D wedge element.

  • The face of a 2D quadrilateral element into a 3D brick element.

Where do I find it?

  • Choose Nodes and Elements tab→Elements group→Element Revolve .

  • Choose Insert→Element→Revolve.
