Laminate Modeler dialog box — Optimization group
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Enable Optimization | Controls the options for the laminate optimization. When you select this option, it lets you setup the laminate optimization. When you clear this option, you are unable to setup the laminate optimization. |
| Configures optimization parameters | Available if you select the Enable Optimization check box.Opens the Laminate Optimizer Configuration dialog box to setup optimization parameters. |
| Launches optimization process | Available if you select the Enable Optimization check box.Launches the optimization process. |
| Results | Available when the optimization process finishes.Selects one of the five candidates after the optimization process ends. |
| Output Laminate Optimization Results to Spreadsheet | Available when the optimization process finishes.Opens a spreadsheet application that displays information on the optimization, on the original laminate, and on the five candidates. |
| Output Laminate Optimization Results to CSV File | Exports information on the optimization, on the original laminate, and on the five candidates to a CSV file. |
| Details | Controls the amount of information on the original laminate and the five candidates that are available in the spreadsheet or CSV file. When you clear this option, the spreadsheet file displays the information on:The number of plies, the objective function value(s) and the constraint function value(s) for the original laminate and the five candidates. The optimization configuration settings.Statistics on the genetic optimization, including which variable stopped the optimization, the total number of iterations performed and the total number of individuals created. When you select this option, the spreadsheet file displays information on the laminate definition and properties, for the original laminate and the five candidates in addition to the information above. |
| Design Variable Manager | |
| Appears under the Ply Layup tab. | |
| Design variable list | Selects an existing optimization design variable to modify or delete. |
| Edit Selected Design Variable | Available when you select an existing design variable in the design variable list.Opens the Design Variable Specification dialog box to let you edit the parameters of the selected design variable. |
| Delete Selected Design Variable | Available when you select an existing design variable in the design variable list.Removes the design variable from the design variable list. |
| Export Selected Design Variable as Modeling Object | Creates a Design Variable — Composite Property modeling object for the Nastran SOL 200 Design Optimization solution from the selected design variable.Note: Only continuous ply angle and ply thickness design variables are supported. |
| Export All Design Variables as Modeling Objects | Creates Design Variable — Composite Property modeling objects for the Nastran SOL 200 Design Optimization solution from all supported design variables.Note: Only continuous ply angle and ply thickness design variables are supported. |
| Type | Controls the type of design variable to create.Ply Angle lets you create a ply angle design variable.Ply Thickness lets you create a ply thickness design variable.Ply Material lets you create a ply material design variable. |
| Create Design Variable | Opens the Design Variable Specification dialog box to let you create the parameters for the design variable of type specified in Type list. |
| Assign Design Variable | |
| Appears under the Ply Layup tab. | |
| Angle DV | Available when you select a ply in the ply table.Lets you assign an existing angle design variable to the selected ply. |
| Thickness DV | Available when you select a ply in the ply table.Lets you assign an existing thickness design variable to the selected ply. |
| Material DV | Available when you select a ply in the ply table.Lets you assign an existing material design variable to the selected ply. |
| Removable Ply | Available when you select a ply in the ply table.Controls the existence of the ply in the laminate. When you select this option, the optimization process can remove the selected ply from the optimized laminate. When you clear this option, the selected ply stays in the optimized laminate. |
