Define a gravity load using magnitude and direction

The Magnitude and Direction type lets you define a gravity load with a magnitude and a single direction.

  1. Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Gravity .

  2. In the Gravity dialog box, select Magnitude and direction from the Type list.

  3. Because you must apply a gravity load to the entire FE model, in the Model Object group, you do not need to use the Select Object option to select any geometry. The software automatically applies the load to the entire model.

  4. In the Magnitude group, define the acceleration in one of these ways:Select Expression to use a constant value or expression to define the magnitude. For more information, see Expressions.Select Field to define acceleration magnitude that varies with frequency, time, or temperature. For more information, see Using fields and expressions to define boundary conditions.

  5. In the Direction group, select a vector to specify the direction of the load. For more information, see Vector dialog box.

  6. Click OK.The load is applied to the model.
