Specialist Durability > Specialist durability load events

Create a random data source

  1. Make the Simulation file the work part and the displayed part, and choose Specialist Durability tab→Load Events group→Random Data Source .You can also create a random data source from the Random Event dialog box.

  2. In the Name - Description group, in the name box, type a name for the random data source.

  3. In the Mode Set group, from the Mode Set list, select an existing mode set.You can also click Create Mode Set to create a mode set using the Mode Set dialog box. When you create a mode set, its node appears under the Mode Sets node in the Simulation Navigator. All modes of each subcase need to be either active or inactive.

  4. In the Modes subgroup, select one of the following options:Free-Free: the solver uses the fixed vibration inputs to constrain the model and re-compute the modes during solution.Fixed-Fixed: the solver ignores the fixed vibration inputs during solution.Read Modal Participation Factors: instead of computing the modal participation factors, the solver reads them from a forced vibration solution results file that you specify. For more information, see Modal basis in vibration load events definition.

  5. In the Sampling Rate group, in the Sampling Rate box, type the step value that the solver uses to identify the frequencies to compute outputs.

  6. In the Vibration Inputs group, click Create Vibration Input to create vibration inputs using the Vibration Input Definition dialog box. For more information, refer to Create a vibration input.

  7. In the Correlation Inputs group, click Create Correlation Input to create cross spectral densities between existing vibration inputs using the Correlation Input dialog box:In the Name - Description group, in the name box, type a name for the correlation input. In the From DOF group, select a vibration input from the list. The software lists all the vibration inputs that can be correlated with the selected one in the To DOF group. In the To DOF group, select a vibration input from the list.In the Function group, choose FunctionsFunction Manager to select or create a cross spectral density (CSD) function between the two different vibration inputs that you selected in the From DOF and To DOF groups, using the XY Function Manager dialog box.Click OK to close the Correlation Input dialog boxes.

  8. (Optional) In the Static Loads group, from the Index column, select the check boxes of those subcases that contain static loads. You can modify the scale factor of a selected static load in the list by clicking its scale value.

  9. Click OK to close the Random Data Source dialog box.
