Importing CATIA ply group algorithm
To import CATIA ply groups, the part file must contain all CAD faces that are referenced by the XML file containing the CATIA ply groups.
If a polygon sheet body from a 2D mesh does not exist in the FEM, to create it, the software:Identifies the meshes on which the layup is assigned.Identifies the parent polygon faces from these meshes.Makes associative copies of the identified faces in the idealized part.Meshes the copied faces using the parent 2D mesh size that is scaled by the specified mesh size factor.Creates a single polygon sheet body on mesh. This body is displayed in the Simulation Navigator under the Polygon Geometry node with the following icon: .
To determine which 2D elements reference which imported ply, the software:Discretizes each ply boundary curve using the specified number of discretization points.Projects each point on the polygon sheet body on mesh.Creates the ply boundary in the uv space.Computes the element centroid coordinates of the original 2D mesh in the uv space.Checks if the 2D element is inside the ply boundary or not.
