Rounding thickness values prior to export (Simcenter Samcef)
In the Edit Advanced Solver Options page, you can set a thickness threshold to group 2D membranes and shell thicknesses that are inherited from a midsurface operation into a single rounded thickness value.
When thicknesses are inherited from midsurfaces, the Simcenter Samcef input file may contain element-based thicknesses such as:
.PHPELEM I 1 THICK VAL 2ELEM I 2 THICK VAL 1.99999ELEM I 3 THICK VAL 2.00001
depending on how the midsurface has been meshed.
You can use the Element Thickness Evaluation of the Edit Advanced Solver Options page to round the thicknesses.
For instance, in the example above, if you set a threshold of 1e-5 mm, all thicknesses are rounded to the value of 2.0:
.PHPGROUP "PHP_1" THICK VAL 2
The elements 1, 2, and 3 are now grouped into a new PHP_1 Simcenter Samcef group.
Another example:
.PHPELEM I 1 THICK VAL 2ELEM I 2 THICK VAL 1.99999ELEM I 3 THICK VAL 2.00001ELEM I 4 THICK VAL 3.00001ELEM I 5 THICK VAL 3.00001
rounded as:
.PHPGROUP "PHP_1" THICK VAL 2GROUP "PHP_2" THICK VAL 3
Note:
By default, the threshold is set to 1e-7 mm.
