Transverse Gradient Target Zone

Use a Transverse Gradient Target Zone constraint in the target model to map a temperature differential that exists between two parallel or quasi-parallel 2D meshes or multi-layer shell meshes in the thermal (source) model, to a single mesh in the target model.

In the source model (1), you must first define a transverse gradient association zone, using a Transverse Gradient Zone type of Mapping constraint. In the target model (2), you then define the transverse gradient target zone by doing the following:

  • Select the destination elements or nodes.

  • Associate the transverse gradient target zone (4) to the corresponding transverse gradient association zone (3) in the source model.

(1) Source model(2) Target model(3) Transverse gradient association zone(4) Transverse gradient target zone

If you define a mapping target set in your target solution, the nodes and elements of your transverse gradient target zone must be a subset of the mapping target set.

Target zones cannot intersect each other.
