Split shell elements

Split elements

  1. Click Split Shell .

  2. Use the Type list to specify how you want to split the elements. For example, choose Quad to 2 Triangles to split a quadrilateral element into two triangular elements.

  3. Depending on the option you select from the Type, select an option from the Based on list.

  4. Click Select Element and select the quadrilateral elements to split.

  5. Use the Flip Split Line button, if necessary, to reverse the direction in which the software divides the elements.

  6. Click OK or Apply.

Split elements along a line that you specify

  1. Click Split Shell .

  2. From the Type list, choose Split by Line.

  3. Click Select Element and select the quadrilateral elements to split.Note: To ensure that the resulting elements have the proper node connectivity, select all elements on either side of where you intend to create the split line.

  4. Use the Specify Point options to select the beginning and end points that define the line along which to divide the element.

  5. Click OK or Apply.
