Define a velocity constraint using components

The Components type lets you define a velocity constraint in terms of a global or local coordinate system.

  1. Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Velocity .

  2. In the Velocity dialog box, select Components from the Type list.

  3. In the Model Objects group, click Select Object and select the geometry or FE entity to which the velocity constraint will be applied.

  4. In the Direction group, select the coordinate system to use to define the constraint.

  5. (Optional) If you set Coordinate System to a local type, choose the method for specifying the coordinate system from the Local list. For more information, see CSYS dialog box.

  6. In the Degrees of freedom group, define the velocity constraint magnitude for each DOF in one of these ways:Select Expression to use a constant value or expression to define the magnitude. For more information, see Expressions. Select Field to define velocity constraint magnitude that varies with frequency or time. For more information, see Using fields and expressions to define boundary conditions.

  7. Click OK.The constraint is applied to the model.
