Display full model results for 3D cyclic symmetry and 2D-3D coupled structures (SOL 414)
Use this procedure to display and combine results for a rotor dynamics analysis that uses the Fourier Multi Harmonic and 3D Coupling simulation object to connect a 3D or 3D cyclic symmetry structure with a 2D axisymmetric structure in the model. You can also use this procedure with results from models that use only 3D cyclic symmetry.
This procedure requires that:
You solved the model, and the Simulation file contains the results, or you have the Samcef .des, .fac, .u18, and .sdb results file. Note: All SOL 414 results are written only to Samcef files, not to the .op2 file.
If you want to combine and display 3D cyclic symmetry and 2D axisymmetric results for a 3D cyclic symmetry structure and a 2D axisymmetric structure coupled with the Fourier Multi Harmonic and 3D Coupling simulation object, the solution was solved with the following options:On the Solution dialog box, Parameters page:The Fourier Harmonic Post-Processing Recombination Mode (FHPOST) check box is selected, and the list is set to 2D Results at 0 Degree + 3D Results. On the Nonlinear Control Parameters - Global dialog box, Parameters tab:The Generate Restart Point (RSTGEN) list is set to Yes.
If you want to combine and display 2D axisymmetric results for a full 3D structure and 2D axisymmetric structure coupled with the Fourier Multi Harmonic and 3D Coupling simulation object, the solution was solved with the following option on the Solution dialog box, Parameters page:The Fourier Harmonic Post-Processing Recombination Mode (FHPOST) check box is selected, and the list is set to 2D Results at 0 Degree + 3D Results.
Make the Simulation file the work part and the displayed part.
If a results file is open, close it by right-clicking the results node in the Post-Processing Navigator and choosing Unload. The results generated by the Results Recombination command can open only when no results are loaded.
Choose Rotor Dynamics tab→Rotor Results group→Results Recombination .
In the Results Recombination dialog box, set the location of the Samcef solver executable file. The actions on the Results Recombination dialog box create and solve Samcef solutions to generate the results you request.
Select whether you want the software to locate the results file from the open Simulation file or from the location you enter. If you select to infer the results from the Simulation file, the software uses the model_name-solution_name.des file.
Do one of the following depending on the results you want to open and how you want the model to be displayed:To visualize the full 3D cyclic symmetry model, click Cyclic Recombination Only.To visualize both the revolved 2D axisymmetric model and the recovered 3D cyclic symmetry model, and merge the 2D and 3D results so that you can access both the rotation speeds (frequency) and modal results from one file, click Cyclic Recombination with Full Model.Note: This option requires that the solution was solved with:Fourier Harmonic Post-Processing Recombination Mode (FHPOST) set to 2D Results at 0 Degree + 3D Results on the Parameters page of the Solution dialog box.Generate Restart Point (RSTGEN) set to Yes in the Nonlinear Control Parameters - Global modeling object. To visualize the revolved 2D axisymmetric structure and the full 3D model, click 2D-3D Merge Only. The Samcef solver starts and computes the new results file for visualizing the recombined model.
Click Close.
Expand the Results→Structural node, and double-click the results file you want to display. If you clicked Cyclic Recombination Only, the cyclic symmetry (_RSYC_dy.des) results file is created. If you clicked Cyclic Recombination with Full Model, the 3D-2D (_MERGE_dy.des) results file is created. If you clicked 2D-3D Merge Only, the 3D-2D (*_MERGE_dy.des) results file is created. The Samcef solver retrieves and combines the results. The new results appear in the Simulation Navigator under the Structural node.
In the Post Processing Navigator, expand the solution container→Structural node, and expand the results you want to display. To display the original results, expand the Rotation Speed Computation number 1/Vibration modes node.To display the modal results and the updated visualization, expand the Comp. Num. 1/Vibration modes node. The graphics window displays the 3D cyclic symmetry and 2D axisymmetric structures as you selected in step 6.
To adjust the phase angle for complex modes, choose Results tab→Post View group→Edit Post View and do the following. On the Deformation tab, in the Complex Options group, from the Complex list, select At Phase Angle. On the Result tab, in the Complex Options group, from the Complex list, select At Phase Angle.
