Manual Morph dialog box
Manual Morph tab options
| Elements | |
|---|---|
| Select Elements | Lets you select the elements that you want to manually morph to new geometry. |
| Element Labels | Lets you add elements to the selection.Use a space or comma to separate your entries.Use a colon or a dash to add a range of element labels. For example, enter 1:10 or 1-10 to add all the element labels from 1 to 10.Use colons to add an incremented range of element labels. For example, enter:1:9:2 to add element labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.1:10:2 to add element labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10.10:1:-2 to add element labels 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1.Press enter or click Select to add your entries. To edit your selection, click Edit Element Selection . |
| Node Mapping Method | |
| Method | Lets you define how the software maps (associates) nodes to the polygon geometry.Fixed: Designates nodes that do not move during the manual morphing operation.Node to Point: Associates a node to a point or vertex. During manual morphing, the software moves the node to the location of the point or vertex. This type of mapping can include only one node and one point.Node to Edge: Associates a node to an edge. During manual morphing, the software moves the node to the edge. This type of mapping can contain multiple nodes and a chain of edges.Node to Face: Associates a node to a face. During manual morphing, the software moves the node to the face. This type of mapping can contain multiple nodes and a single face. |
| Nodes | |
| Select Node | Lets you select one or more nodes to map to the geometry. |
| Node Labels | Lets you add nodes to the selection.Use a space or comma to separate your entries.Use a colon or a dash to add a range of node labels. For example, enter 1:10 or 1-10 to add all the node labels from 1 to 10.Use colons to add an incremented range of node labels. For example, enter:1:9:2 to add node labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.1:10:2 to add node labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10.10:1:-2 to add node labels 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1.Press enter or click Select to add your entries. To edit your selection, click Edit Node Selection . |
| Point | |
| Select Point | Available if Mapping Type is set to Node to Point.Lets you select the point to which to map a node. The software associates the node to this point and moves the node to this point’s location during morphing. |
| Curve/Edge | |
| Select Curve/Edge | Available if Mapping Type is set to Node to Edge.Lets you select the curve or edge to which to map a node. The software associates the node to this curve or edge and moves the node onto the curve or edge during morphing. |
| Vertex Nodes | |
| Vertex Nodes | Available if Mapping Type is set to Node to Edge.Lets you ensure that the appropriate nodes are associated to the appropriate vertices at the ends of the edge. |
| Select Vertex Nodes | Lets you map each highlighted vertex to the appropriate node. The software uses temporary graphics to indicate the correspondence between a vertex and a node. |
| Face | |
| Select Face | Available if Mapping Type is set to Node to Face.Lets you select the face to which to map a node. The software associates the node to this face and moves the node onto the face during morphing. |
| Distribution Method (for the Node to Edge method) | |
| Distribution Method | Available if Mapping Type is set to Node to Edge.Lets you specify how the software should distribute the nodes along the curve or edge.Select Nearest Point to move the nodes to the nearest points on the selected curve or edge.Select Along Vector to move the nodes along a specified vector to the selected curve or edge.Select Uniformly Across Edge to distribute the selected nodes uniformly across the selected curve or edge.Select Keep Source Bias to retain any biasing in the selected nodes when those nodes are moved to the selected edge or curve.Note: With the Uniformly Across Edge and Keep Source Bias methods, you must select a contiguous chain of nodes. If you do not, the software issues an error message. |
| Distribution Method (for the Node to Face method) | |
| Distribution Method | Available if Mapping Type is set to Node to Face.Lets you specify how the software should distribute the nodes on the selected face.Select Nearest Point to move the nodes to the nearest points on the selected face.Select Along Vector to move the nodes along a specified vector to the selected face. If you select this option, use the Specify Vector options to define the vector.Select Based on Edge Node Movement to move the nodes to the selected face based on how the nodes on the edges move. With the other Distribution Method options, the software positions and constrains the nodes on the face at the start of morphing. With the Based on Edge Node Movement option, the software iteratively calculates the position of the interior surface nodes during morphing. The Based on Edge Node Movement is expected to work the best in the majority of cases.Select Along Element Normal to move nodes along the normals of their associated elements. |
| Mapping List | |
| Mapping List | Displays all current mappings.Click Move Up or Move Down to change the order of the mappings in the list.Click Delete Mapping to delete a selected mapping. |
| Apply Mapping Sequentially | Controls how the software applies the mappings.Select this check box to have the software apply the mappings one after the other in the sequential order in which they appear in the Mapping List.Clear this check box to have the software apply all mappings simultaneously. |
| Preview | |
| Show Result | Previews the morphed mesh based on your current selections. |
Display Association tab options
| Partially Associated Elements | |
|---|---|
| Select Elements | Lets you select the elements that you want to check to see whether they have any partially associated nodes. The software checks whether all an element's connected nodes lie on the same geometry, or on the children of that geometry. If they do not, then the software identifies the element as being partially associated to the geometry. |
| Partial Element Color | Lets you select the color to use to display elements that have nodes that are partially associated to the geometry. |
| Show | Displays the elements that have nodes that are partially associated to the geometry. |
| Orphan Nodes | |
| Displays external nodes that are not associated to any geometry. | |
| Marker | Lets you select the type of marker to use to display nodes that are not associated to any geometry. |
| Color | Lets you select the color to use to display nodes that are not associated to any geometry. |
| Show | Displays the orphan nodes. |
| Associated Nodes | |
| Select Geometry | Lets you select the geometry for which you want to display the associated nodes. For example, if you select a body, the software highlights all nodes that are associated to the edges and faces of the body in the colors you select. |
| Edge Node Marker | Lets you select the type of marker to use to display nodes that are associated to edges. |
| Edge Node Color | Lets you select the type of marker to use to indicate the nodes that are associated to edges. |
| Face Node Marker | Lets you select the type of marker to use to display nodes that are associated to faces. |
| Face Node Color | Lets you select the color to use to display nodes that are associated to faces. |
| Curve Node Marker | Lets you select the type of marker to use to display nodes that are associated to curves. |
| Curve Node Color | Lets you select the type of marker to use to indicate the nodes that are associated to edges. |
| Show | Displays the nodes that are associated to the geometry. |
| Geometry without Nodes | |
| Show Edges | Displays edges that do not have any associated nodes. |
| Show Faces | Displays faces that do not have any associated nodes. |
| Edge/Face Color | Lets you select the color to use to display edges or faces that do not have any associated nodes. |
| Refresh Display | Clears all temporary graphics and colors from the display. |
