Convection dialog box (Simcenter Samcef Thermal)

| Type | Specifies where you want to apply the convection.Convection on Elements, Element Faces or Element Edges—Applies a convection on elements, 3D element faces, or elements edges.Convection on 2D Element Faces—Applies a convection on the top or bottom face of 2D thermal membranes.Note: In a Axisymmetric Thermal analysis, you can only apply cavity convection on edges. |

| Name | Sets the name of the constraint. |
| Description | Sets the description of the constraint. |
| Destination Folder | |
| Constraint Container | Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition is stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.To view a hierarchical list of existing folders, click Folder Manager . To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder. |

| Select Object | Lets you select the geometry on which the boundary condition is applied. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters.For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Excluded | Lets you remove individual entities from within the selected object. |

| Fluid Temperature (TFC) | Sets the magnitude of the fluid temperature.For more information, see the TFC parameter of the Samcef .CLT command. |
| Convection Coefficient (CONV) | Sets the convection coefficient.For more information, see the CONV parameter of the Samcef .CLT command. |
| Exponent (EXP) | Sets the exponent of the convection law.For more information, see the EXP parameter of the Samcef .CLT command. |
| Position (FACE) | Appears when Type is set to Convection on 2D Element Faces.Select Top of the Support to define the convection on the top faces of the support. Select Bottom of the Support for the bottom faces of the support. |
| Card Name | Displays the name of the solver card this object writes to: .CLT EXP TFC CONV. |
