Post-processing > Loading and importing results
Loading results
Post-processing provides the following ways to load results for analysis.
Loading the results from a solved model
After you have solved your model, the results are listed under the Results folder in the Simulation Navigator.
The result data set also appears in the Post Processing Navigator and is named for the active solution.
You can open and load the results into post-processing for analysis from either the Simulation Navigator or the Post Processing Navigator. The results are available whenever the Simulation file is loaded.
Importing the results
You can import and access results for solves performed outside the current solution. For example, you can:
Share results of a completed analysis with colleagues.
Quickly view results without loading the associated FEM and Simulation data.
View results created outside of this software.
For more information about importing results, see Importing results.
Loading the results as data sources to preconfigured views
You can load results files as data sources for use in preconfigured views, called scenarios that are easy to interpret and create. For example, you can use the Function Plots scenario to visualize structural results such as acoustic pressure, acoustic power, displacement, velocity, and acceleration as different function plots (XY plot, color map, color bars, waterfall, bar chart display, and so on).
| Motion results | Acoustic results |

In addition to providing you with preconfigured views, post-processing scenarios also support more result formats. For example, you can view Simcenter 3D Motion and LMS Virtual.Lab Motion results in scenarios. You can also use other Simulation objects, such as load recipes or mode sets.
For more information about using results in post-processing scenarios, see Post processing with preconfigured views.
Working with the results in post views
After you load results, you display them on the model in a post view. A post view represents results displayed on the model in the graphics window. By default, a post view displays the results using a contour plot display, and includes the result type and data component, cutting plane settings, deformation, and so on. You can change the color display to be based on mesh, property, or material values. For more information, see Post views.
To work with the results efficiently in post views, consider doing the following:
Cache the results so you can more quickly view the results and perform post-processing operations on them. For more information, see Caching post-processing results.
Register the results and then later use the registration information to verify the results and the model are still in sync. For more information, see Verify results and models are in sync.
