Mode Pairing Control dialog box
| Automatic Pairing | |
|---|---|
| Method | Specifies the method of defining mode pairs between reference and work normal modes.ManualPairs modes manually. Sequential ModesPairs modes by their ID number. Available only for a correlation solution process.FrequencyPairs work and reference normal modes by their frequency.Available only for a correlation solution process.MACPairs work and reference normal modes by their MAC values.X-OrthoPairs work and reference normal modes by their cross-orthogonality magnitude.Only available for structural shape correlation solution processes. The correlation solution process allows you to combine manual mode pairing with automatic mode pairing. The manual pairs you define have precedence over automatic pairs. |
| Master | Specifies which modes are the master modes.ReferenceSearches for the best match for each reference mode from the work modes. In Model Update, the Master is always set to Reference to match the pairing used by optimization.WorkSearches for the best match for each work mode from the reference modes. |
| Filters | |
| Minimum MAC | Appears when Method is set to MAC.Sets the minimum modal assurance criterion (MAC) value for pairing. Type a number between zero and one. |
| Minimum X-Ortho | Available only for a structural shape correlation solution process and appears when Method is set to X-Ortho.Sets the minimum cross-orthogonality value for pairing. Type a number between zero and one. |
| Frequency Tolerance (%) | Appears when Method is set to Frequency.Sets the percentage frequency tolerance to pair the modes. The modes are paired:If the Master is set to Reference when the absolute value of the difference between work and reference frequencies, divided by the reference frequency is less than the specified tolerance percentage. If the Master is set to Work when the absolute value of the difference between the reference and work frequencies, divided by the work frequency is less than the specified tolerance percentage. |
| Frequency Tolerance (Hz) | Appears when Method is set to Frequency.Sets the frequency tolerance in Hz that the software uses to pair work and reference normal modes. The modes are paired when the absolute value of the difference between work and reference normal mode frequencies is less than specified the tolerance. |
| Mode Pair Tracking | |
| Track Pairs Only | Displays only paired modes in the pairing viewer. When you clear this option, all mode combinations that meet the filter criteria are displayed in the pairing viewer. |
| Manual Pairing | |
| In Model Update appears only when Method is set to Manual. | |
| Reference Mode ID | Sets the reference mode shape ID for the manual pair. |
| Work Mode ID | Sets the work mode shape ID for the manual pair. |
| List of manual pairs | Lists all existing manual pairs. |
| Add | Adds the manual mode pair to the list. |
| Delete | Deletes the selected manual mode pair from the list. |
| Pair Modes Sequentially | Sequentially pairs modes by their ID number. |
| Mode Clusters | |
| Available only for a structural shape correlation solution process. | |
| Define Mode Clusters | Pairs reference and work mode shapes of symmetric structures on a cluster by cluster basis. |
| Model Update | |
| Available only in a Model Update solution and can only be modified when Method is set to Manual. | |
| Shape Correlation Method | Controls the method used by Model Update to compute mode shape errors.MACUses the Modal Assurance Correlation (MAC) method. For more information, see Modal Assurance Criteria (MAC).X-OrthoUses the Cross-orthogonality (X-Ortho) method. For more information, see Cross-orthogonality (X-Ortho). |
| Pairing Viewer | |
| Not available when Method is set to by MAC and Define Mode Clusters is selected. | |
| Scale | Specifies how the mode pairs are shown in the pairing viewer.LinearShows the reference and work modes in the pairing viewer arranged by frequency on a linear scale.ListShows the reference and work modes in ascending order. |
| Zoom | Available when Scale is set to Linear.Lets you change the frequency scale in the pairing viewer. |
| Pairing viewer | Shows connecting lines between the work and reference normal modes, which the software paired using the pairing method selected from the Method list. |
