Create the work solution for the model update solution process

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Simulation file node and choose New Solution.

  2. In the Solution dialog box, verify that:The Solver list is set to Simcenter Nastran. The Analysis Type list is set to Structural.

  3. From the Solution Type list, select SOL 200 Model Update.

  4. On the Case Control tab, verify that your output request includes displacement results. In the Output Requests row, click Edit .In the Structural Output Requests dialog box, click the Displacement tab.Verify that the Enable DISPLACEMENT Request is selected.Under Entity Selection, verify that Entity is set to ALL.Click OK.

  5. On the Case Control tab, define the extraction method and the number of desired modes. From the Real Eigenvalue Extraction Data list, select Lanczos. In the Lanczos Method row, click Create Modeling Object .The Real Eigenvalue dialog box opens. In the Properties group, under Frequency Options, in the Number of Desired Modes box, type the number of desired modes.(Optional) In the Frequency Range – Lower Limit box, type the frequency that is the lower limit of the frequency range for your modes.Typically, you set a lower limit to remove rigid body modes.(Optional) In the Frequency Range – Upper Limit box, type the frequency that is the upper limit of the frequency range for your modes.Click OK.

  6. On the Bulk Data tab, in the Design Variables row, click .

  7. In the Modeling Object Manager dialog box, in the Selection group table, select all previously created design variables that you want to include in the Model Update solution process.See Create design variables for the model update solution process for more information.

  8. Click Add to List.

  9. Click Close.

  10. In the Mode Number of an Elastic Mode box, type the number of the first elastic mode. The first elastic mode is 1 when your model is constrained or you removed the rigid body modes from the eigenvalue extraction method. The first elastic mode is 7 when your model is not constrained and you kept the rigid body modes in the eigenvalue extraction method.

  11. From the Model Reduction list, select the physical or modal reduction method.See Model reduction methods for more information.

  12. From the Analysis Set (ASET) or the Degree of Freedom Set (USET,U2) list depending on the model reduction method you selected in step 11, select the existing DOF set or click New DOF Set to create a new DOF set. For steps to create a new DOF set, see Create a DOF set.

  13. In the Solution dialog box, click OK.
