Rotational Periodicity Target Zone
Use the Rotational Periodicity Target Zone constraint in a target model to ensure that the software maps temperatures of solid non-axisymmetric elements from a cylindrical periodic sector in the source model to the complete cylindrical part in the target model. This mapping constraint improves the temperature mapping from thermal to structural solutions for rotating machinery. The temperature is mapped around the appropriate axis on selected elements or nodes in the target model.
| Source model | Target model |
In the source model, you must first define a rotational periodicity association zone, using a Rotational Periodicity Association Zone type of Mapping constraint. In the target model, you then define the rotational periodicity target zone by doing the following:
Select the destination elements or nodes.
Associate the rotational periodicity target zone to the corresponding rotational periodicity association zone in the source model.
If you define a mapping target set in your target solution, the nodes and elements of your rotational periodicity target zone must be a subset of the mapping target set.
Target zones must not intersect each other.
