Export of Element Associated Data defined on solid elements (Simcenter Samcef)

In Simcenter Samcef, you can define physical properties on solid elements:

  • Either on a mesh collector, in the Physical Property Table dialog box. For more information, see Solid dialog box (Simcenter Samcef).

  • Either on the Element Associated Data dialog box. For more information, see Element Associated Data dialog box.

You can also add a material orientation in the Mesh Associated Data dialog box. For more information, see Mesh Associated Data dialog box (Simcenter Samcef).

Overwriting the material and the damping characteristics

You can define the material and the damping characteristics of solid elements:

  • on a mesh collector in a physical property table.

  • on specific solid elements, in physical property tables that you set in the element-associated data.

When the software exports the material and/or the damping characteristics:

  • If you do not set a physical property table on the mesh collector, the software will check for all the elements of that collector that you set materials and/or the damping characteristics properties in the element-associated data of these elements.

  • The element-associated data will overwrite the physical properties.

Overwriting the material orientation

You can define the material orientation:

  • on a mesh collector in a physical property table.

  • on a specific mesh in the mesh-associated data.

  • on specific solid elements in physical property tables that you set in the element-associated data of these elements.

When the software exports the material orientation:

  • If you do not set a physical property table on the mesh collector, the software will check for all the elements of that collector that you set material orientations in the element-associated data of these elements.

  • If you set a physical property table on the mesh collector and you set physical property tables on elements in their element-associated data, the material orientation of the element-associated data will overwrite any other material orientation, whatever the orientation method you set in the mesh-associated data.
