Cyclic symmetry analysis in ANSYS
You can perform cyclic symmetry analyses in the ANSYS environment. For example, you can:
Analyze the behavior of a single symmetric sector within a larger circular component or assembly.
Use the results of the analysis of the single sector to compute the response behavior of the full component or assembly.
For example, if you analyze a 10° sector of a 36-blade turbine wheel assembly, you can apply ANSYS post-processing calculations to those results to compute the results for the 360° model solution.
Defining cyclic symmetry attributes and options
You use modeling objects to define the appropriate options for a cyclic symmetry analysis:
Use the Cyclic Attributes modeling object to define the number of sectors, the sector angle, and specify the pairs of nodes that the software uses to optionally generate cyclic constraint equations. The options in the Cyclic Attributes dialog box correspond to the options for the ANSYS CYCLIC command.
Use the Cyclic Options modeling object to define options for the solution. For example, you can adjust tolerance values, control the harmonic solution index ranges, and specify whether to manually apply nodal rotations. The options in the Cyclic Attributes dialog box correspond to the options for the ANSYS CYCOPT command.
Use the Harmonic Options modeling object to define the solution options for a Harmonic - Mode Superposition analysis, such as the sources of excitation or the excitation engine order.
Use the options on the Cyclic Symmetry page in the Solution dialog box to include these modeling objects in the solution.
