Screen

Create a Screen simulation object to model two-dimensional openings that direct and impede the fluid flow moving within the fluid domain. Define a screen on a surface that is related to, and in contact with, the 3D fluid mesh on both sides. The surface you select must be co-planar with the adjacent surfaces of the 3D elements that model the fluid on both sides.

When you define a Screen simulation object on the same region where you define a Disjoint Fluid Mesh Pairing simulation object, choose only one surface of the disjoint fluid mesh selection, not both.

Note:

The density of the 3D flow mesh adjoining a screen is important. The flow solver needs at least two fluid elements across any opening.

When you create a screen, you can specify a Planar Head Loss modeling object to model the head loss that occurs as a result of the screen.

Particle tracking simulation

When you do a particle tracking simulation, you can request a particle pass-through report. When you request the report, the flow solver generates the ParticleAndImpactTrackingSummary.dat file which contains two tables:

  • The Particle Tracking Summary table lists the number of injected and ejected particles in total for your model and per boundary condition.

  • The Particle Surface Impact and Screen Pass-Through Tracking Report table lists the number of particles that impact walls in your model per injection boundary condition and the number of particles that pass through screens per injection boundary condition.

The file is generated in the simulation’s run directory.
