Element Copy and Project dialog box
| Type | |
|---|---|
| Type | Controls the part of the element the software copies and projects.Element Edges copies and projects selected element edges into new 1D elements.Element Faces copies and projects selected element faces into new 2D elements.1D and 2D Elements copies and project any combination of selected element edges and faces into new 1D or 2D elements. |
| Elements | |
| Select Object | Lets you select the elements to translate. |
| Element Labels | Available when Type is set to 1D and 2D Elements.Lets you add elements to the selection.Use a space or comma to separate your entries.Use a colon or a dash to add a range of element labels. For example, enter 1:10 or 1-10 to add all the element labels from 1 to 10.Use colons to add an incremented range of element labels. For example, enter:1:9:2 to add element labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.1:10:2 to add element labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10.10:1:-2 to add element labels 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1.Press enter or click Select to add your entries. To edit your selection, click Edit Element Selection . |
| Target Projection Face | |
| Select Target Face | Lets you select the polygon face or datum plane onto which to project the elements. |
| % Offset to Surface | Specifies the percentage of the distance to the target surface to offset the elements. For example:Specify 100% to have the software project the elements directly onto the target surface.Specify 50% to have the software project the elements to a location that's halfway between the original surface and the target surface. |
| Direction | |
| Projection Method | If you choose Element Faces from the Type list, specifies the method to use to project the 2D elements.Along Vector projects the elements along a specified vector.Element Normal to projects the elements along their individual normals. |
| Specify Vector | Lets you define the vector along which to project the elements. |
| Reverse Direction | Reverses the direction of the vector or element normal. |
| Element Properties | |
| Type | Specifies the type of element to create. |
| Edit Mesh Associated Data | Appears when you select an element type that requires the definition of additional properties.Opens the Mesh Associated Data dialog box where you can define solver-specific properties for the elements. The software applies these properties uniformly to all the elements in the mesh. For more information, see Mesh-associated data. |
| Destination Collector | |
| Automatic Creation | Controls the automatic creation of a new mesh collector.Select Automatic Creation to have the software automatically create a new destination collector for the current mesh. If you select this option, the software creates a collector using the default physical properties. The mesh inherits the material properties of the idealized part.Clear the Automatic Creation check box to choose an existing mesh collector from the Mesh Collector list. |
| Mesh Collector | Lets you select an existing collector or create a new one. Click New Collector to use the Mesh Collector dialog box to create additional mesh collectors. See Mesh collectors for more information. |
| Destination Mesh | |
| Destination Mesh | Controls the mesh node into which the software places the new elements.Create New creates a new mesh node on the Simulation Navigator. The software places the new elements into that new node.Add to Existing places the new elements into an existing mesh node on the Simulation Navigator. |
| Label | |
| Label Options | Controls how the software assigns labels to the new elements.Label/Increment lets you specify a starting label and increment.Offset lets you offset the starting label for the new elements by a specified value. |
| Label | Specifies the starting label for the new elements. |
| Increment | Specifies the increment the software should use for each successive element label. |
| Offset | Specifies an offset to apply to the starting label for the new elements. |
| Mesh Properties | |
| Export Mesh to Solver | Available when Type is set to Element Faces.Controls whether the software includes the 2D mesh data in your solver input file when you export or solve the model. If you plan to use this 2D mesh as only a seed mesh for a 3D mesh, you should clear this check box. |
| Preview | |
| Preview | Automatically previews the appearance of the projected elements once you have specified the minimum options necessary. |
| Show Result | Previews the projected elements based upon your current selections. |
