Meshing > Adaptive meshing
Excluding parts of the model from adaptive meshing
You can select the Suppression type of zone in the Adaptivity Zone dialog box to specify regions of the mesh to exclude from adaptive refinement. For example, you may want to define a suppression zone in regions of your model that are not critical to the current analysis.
When you create a suppression zone, you can select polygon geometry (faces, edges, and bodies), points, meshes, or mesh points.
The software treats suppression zones as converged regions that require no refinement.
The mesh in a suppression zone may still change during adaptive meshing because of changes that occur in adjacent meshes. These limited changes help ensure a higher quality mesh throughout the model.

For each suppression zone, you can specify whether to exclude the zone from all analyses or from either the structural or thermal components of Simcenter 3D Multiphysics solutions.
The Simulation Navigator stores Suppression Zone items under the Zones folder in each adaptivity solution process node.
