Restart a nonlinear solution (internal restart) (SOL 402)

This procedure assumes that your solution contains the necessary subcases and that you now want to set up internal restarts. The restart subcase is the subcase whose computation state you want to start another subcase.

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, under the solution, right-click the subcase to which you want to apply the computation state of the restart subcase, and choose Edit.

  2. In the Solution Step dialog box, do the following:From the Sequential Dependency on Previous Subcase list, select No.From the Nonlinear Control Parameters list, select a subcase modeling object and click Edit , or click Create Modeling Object to create a new one.

  3. In the Nonlinear Control Parameters - Subcase dialog box, on the Restart Options page, in the Restart Computation Flag (RSUB) box, type the ID of the restart subcase whose computation state you want to reuse. For example, if you want to use the computation state from a subcase whose ID is 1, type 1.Note: If the subcase is sequentially dependent (SD) (Sequential Dependency on Previous Subcase is set to Yes), and the Restart Computation Flag (RSUB) is set to a subcase number, Restart Computation Flag (RSUB) takes precedence. The subcase will start with the computation state of the specified subcase ID.

  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for each subcase that you want to use the computation state of another subcase.

  5. Solve the solution.
