Modeling fluid-structure coupling and interaction (MSC Nastran)
In MSC Nastran Vibro-Acoustic analyses, you can define and control the interaction between the structure and the surrounding fluid.
You can create a Fluid-Structure Interface Parameters modeling object to define the fluid and structural elements or nodes to couple. The options in the Fluid-Structure Interface Parameters dialog box correspond to the fields on the ACMODL bulk data entry.
You can create a Fluid-Structure Interaction Control Parameters modeling object to specify various options for the coupling, such as the reference pressure that MSC Nastran uses to compute the sound pressure level in decibels. The options in the Fluid-Structure Interaction Control Parameters dialog box correspond to the describers for the FLSTCNT case control command.
Considerations for switching between MSC Nastran and Simcenter Nastran vibro-acoustic solutions
There are important differences between the Fluid-Structure Interface Parameters and Fluid-Structure Interaction Control Parameters modeling objects in the MSC Nastran and Simcenter Nastran environments that you should be aware of if you switch between the solver environments:
The Fluid-Structure Interface Parameters modeling object is different in the MSC Nastran and Simcenter Nastran environments. This is because the ACMODL bulk data entry in MSC Nastran is completely different from the ACMODL entry in Simcenter Nastran.
The Fluid-Structure Interaction Control Parameters modeling object is shared between the MSC Nastran and Simcenter Nastran environments even though there are minor differences between the options available. If you switch from the MSC Nastran environment to the Simcenter Nastran environment:For the Particle Velocity Output Type (ACOUT) option, the PEAKINT and RMSINT options are not supported in Simcenter Nastran. When you switch environments, Pre/Post automatically sets the selection to PEAK, which is the default option in Simcenter Nastran. For the Coupling Information (SKINOUT) option, the PRINT and ALL options are not supported in Simcenter Nastran. The PRINT and ALL options for are not supported in Simcenter Nastran. When you switch environments, Pre/Post automatically sets the selection to FREEFACE, which is the default option in Simcenter Nastran. If you switch from the Simcenter Nastran environment to the MSC Nastran environment:The Output Coupling Matrix to Punch File (AGGPCH) and Import Coupling Matrix From SFE AKUSMOD (SFEF70) options are not supported in the MSC Nastran environment. For the Coupling Information (SKINOUT) option, the FREEFACE and STOP options for are not supported in MSC Nastran. When you switch environments, Pre/Post automatically sets the selection to NONE, which is the default option in MSC Nastran.
