| Probe Name | Specifies the name of the result probe. |

| Formula | Specifies an expression that defines the results to be generated. The formula may include result variables, predefined plug-in functions, other result probes, fields, or specified points. You can:Enter the formula directly in the entry box. As you begin to type the formula, tooltips provide hints about valid names. If you enter an invalid or incomplete expression, the icon appears next to the entry box.Click and select from these options:ExpressionOpens the Expressions dialog box, where you can select an existing expression or create a new one.For more information, see Expressions.FunctionOpens the Insert Function dialog box, where you can select predefined CAE functions. | Selection Type | Specifies the type of entities to include: Entire Model, Nodes, Elements, Points, Edges, Faces, Bodies, Query Curve, Group, Selection Recipe, or None. Note: When selecting points to include in a result probe (Selection Type is set to Points), the software uses a mesh tolerance to determine if a selected point that does not lie on a surface is used for the result probe calculations. You set the mesh tolerance by entering a value in the Distance to Mesh Tolerance box in the General tab of the Post Processing Preferences dialog box. |
| Pick Sequentially | Appears when Selection Type is set to Nodes, Elements, or Points.Lets you select nodes, elements, or points in a particular order. |
| Select Object | Appears when Selection Type is set to a specific entity type, such as nodes or faces, or Selection Recipe.Lets you select the entities to include from the graphics window. For a selection recipe, lets you select it from the Simulation Navigator. For more information about selection recipes for result probes, see Using selection recipes with result probes. |

| Node/Element Label | Appears when Selection Type is set to Node or Element.Sets the element or node IDs to select. You can type IDs one at a time, or as a space-delimited list. After you type the IDs, click to select the specified IDs. |

| Node Search Tolerance | Appears when Resultant Curve Location is set to Snap to Closest Node.Set the tolerance to a lower value if you want to use the nodes closest to the query curve usage location. If the tolerance is too large and multiple nodes exist within the tolerance, the software uses the closest node. |
| Duplicate Location Tolerance | Appears when Resultant Curve Location is set to Duplicate Location Tolerance.Sets the tolerance for duplicate data nodes. If the locations of data points are close, increasing the tolerance merges the locations into one to produce a smaller number of data points. |
| Projection Direction | Appears when Curve Usage is set to Project to Element Faces.Specifies a vector to define a query curve.For more information, see Vector dialog box. |
| Preview | Turns on the display of the entities that make up the query curve. |
| Nodal/Elemental Averaging | Appears when Selection Type is set to Nodes, Elements, or Points. Note: The option only appears if averaging is required. For example, if your formula is displacement (disp), your results are nodal, and you set Selection Type to Elements, then averaging is required for the results to convert to element-nodal. In that case, the Elemental Averaging option appears for you to select the type of averaging.
