PBEND (Pipe) dialog box (Nastran)

Use this dialog box to define properties for CBEND (curved beam, curved pipe, or elbow element) elements.

For more information, see CBEND or PBEND in the Simcenter Nastran Quick Reference Guide.

Physical Property Table
Name Defines the name of the physical property table.
Label Defines the unique numeric identifier for the physical property table.
Properties
Material Lets you specify the material to assign to the CBEND element. For structural analyses, you must specify an isotropic material (MAT1).
Inner Diameter****Outer Diameter Lets you specify the inner and outer diameter of the element. To create a CBEND element with a solid, circular cross-section, specify an Inner Diameter value of 0.0.
Nonstructural Mass Lets you specify the nonstructural mass value for the element.
Bend Dimension
Bend Specification Lets you specify the method to use to define the curvature of the element.Select Bend Radius to specify the radius of the bend. This option corresponds to the GEOM=3 field on the CBEND bulk data entry.Select Bend Angle per Element to specify the bend angle of the element. This option corresponds to the GEOM=4 field on the CBEND bulk data entry.Select Bend Angle per Mesh to specify the bend angle for all CBEND elements in a mesh. This option corresponds to the GEOM=4 field on the CBEND bulk data entry.
Bend Radius Available if Bend Specification is set to Bend Radius.Lets you specify the radius of the bend along the element's centerline.
Bend Angle Available if Bend Specification is set to Bend Angle per Element or Bend Angle per Mesh.Lets you specify the bend angle for the element or elements.
Elbow/Pipe Options
Flexibility/Stress Intensification (FSI) Controls how Nastran accounts for the effect of curvature on bending stiffness and stress.Select Default to use the Nastran default flexibility and stress intensification factors (out-of-plane flexibility factor of 1.0 and an out-of-plane stress intensification factor of 1.0).Select ASME Section III, NB-3687.2, NB-3685.2, 1977 to use flexibility and stress intensification factors as specified in ASME code Section III, NB-3687.2, NB-3685.2 (published1977).Select Welding Research Factors to use flexibility and stress intensification factors as specified in the Welding Research Council Bulletin 179, by Dodge and Moore.Select ASME N-319-3, 2000 to use flexibility and stress intensification factors as specified in ASME N-319-3 (published 2000). This option is valid for Simcenter Nastran analyses only.Select ASME B-31.1 - 2001 to use flexibility and stress intensification factors as specified in ASME code B31.1 (published 2001). This option is valid for Simcenter Nastran analyses only.Select User Defined to specify your own values for the flexibility and stress intensification factors. This option is valid for Simcenter Nastran analyses only. For more information on these options, see Flexibility and stress intensification factors in the Simcenter Nastran Element Library.
Internal Pressure (P) Lets you specify an internal pressure value to apply to the element.
Radial Offset (RC) Lets you specify a radial offset of the geometric centroid from the two nodes that define the end points of the element (points GA and GB).
Perpendicular Offset (ZC) Lets you specify an offset of the geometric centroid in a direction perpendicular to the plane defined by the end points of the element (points GA and GB) and vector v.
Miter Spacing (SACL) Available if Flexibility/Stress intensification (FSI) is set to ASME B-31.1 - 2001 or User Defined.Defines the miter spacing at the element's centerline.
Half Angle Between Miter (ALPHA) Available if Flexibility/Stress intensification (FSI) is set to ASME B-31.1 - 2001 or User Defined.One-half angle between the adjacent miter axes (Degrees). (Real) Required for FSI=5 with miter bend.
Number of Flanges (FLANGE) Available if Flexibility/Stress intensification (FSI) is set to ASME B-31.1 - 2001.Specifies the number of flanges attached to the element. Use this option when you are modeling an elbow or closely spaced miter bend only.
Torsional Moment Flexibility (KX) Available if Flexibility/Stress intensification (FSI) is set to User Defined.Lets you specify a flexibility factor for the torsional moment.
Out-of-Plane Moment Flexibility (KY) Available if Flexibility/Stress intensification (FSI) is set to User Defined.Lets you specify a flexibility factor for the in-plane bending moment.
In-Plane Moment Flexibility (KZ) Available if Flexibility/Stress intensification (FSI) is set to User Defined.Lets you specify a flexibility factor for the in-plane bending moment.
Out-of-Plane Stress Intensification (SY) Available if Flexibility/Stress intensification (FSI) is set to User Defined.Lets you specify a stress intensification factor for the out-of-plane bending.
In-Plane Stress Intensification (SZ) Available if Flexibility/Stress intensification (FSI) is set to User Defined.Lets you specify a stress intensification factor for the in-plane bending.
