Use predefined fields

For some common boundary conditions, you can create formula fields and table fields from templates with predefined independent and dependent domains. These fields are referred to as predefined fields. The procedure to create a predefined field is as follows:

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Fields node and choose Predefined Formula Field or Predefined Table Field.

  2. Choose the predefined field type. For example, you can choose Spatial Pressure to access a template for defining how a pressure load varies spatially.

  3. In the field dialog box, on the Independent Domain page, from the Independent list, select the domain type.Depending on the predefined field type that you selected, the domain types may be filtered.Note: If the independent domain for the predefined field type is a spatial map, you must specify the independent domain. The dependent domain for all predefined field types is predefined.

  4. On the Definition page, enter an expression or tabular data to define the field.

  5. Click OK.
