Create a 3D swept mesh through a body (Multi Body-Infer Target and Until Target)

1. If you plan to sweep a mesh through multiple bodies, ensure that mesh mating conditions are defined between the bodies. See Mesh mating conditions for more information.

2. Choose Home tab→Mesh group→3D Swept Mesh .

3. In the 3D Swept Mesh dialog box, select either Multi Body-Infer Target or Until Target from the Types list. This controls how the software sweeps the mesh through the selected bodies.

4. Click Select Source Face to select one or more source faces from which to sweep the mesh. You can select source faces from different bodies as long as mesh mating conditions are defined between the bodies.

5. If you selected Until Target from the Types list, click Select Target Face to select a target face. The target face can be in the same body as the source face, or in another body. If you select a target face in another body, any bodies between those that contain the source and target faces must be contiguous.

6. Use the Type list in the Element Properties group to select the type of element to generate in the swept mesh.

7. If the source face you selected is unmeshed, enter an element size in the Source Element Size box , or click to have the software suggest an element size.Note: If the source face you selected is meshed, the software uses the size of elements in that mesh to generate the swept elements.

8. (Optional) If the source face you selected is unmeshed, use the Attempt Free Mapped Meshing option to control whether the software generates a mapped-like mesh on the source surface. See Understanding free mapped meshes for more information.

9. (Optional) Use the Wall Mesh Parameters and Target Mesh Parameters options to control the mesh on the wall and target faces.

10. (Optional) Click Preview to view the nodes along the boundaries of the swept mesh. If you are not satisfied, you can modify the Element Size value.

11. Click OK or Apply to generate the mesh.
