Create an event

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click your Response Dynamics solution process and choose New Event.

  2. In the New Event dialog box, choose the type of event from the Event Type list. See Simcenter 3D Response Dynamics for a description of each event type.

  3. In the Name box, type a descriptive name for the event.

  4. Enter or select the appropriate options for the type of event you are defining. See New Event dialog box for descriptions of each option. For this event type...Define these optionsTransientAnalysis TypeDuration OptionInitial ConditionsFrequencyAnalysis TypeAdditional Spectral LinesInterpolation MethodRandomAdditional Spectral LinesInterpolation MethodUse Fast RMS Evaluation MethodDDAMCoefficient FileQuasi-StaticDuration Option

  5. If you plan to make changes to the FEM, you can choose to preserve the Response Dynamics solution process and its event results by selecting the Save Geometry with Event Results check box. Otherwise, when you change the FEM, the Response Dynamics solution process becomes obsolete, and its results are no longer usable.Note: If the FEM is modified, you can no longer use the Response Dynamics and events to generate new results; however, you can still view existing results. The Save Geometry with Event Results option allows the event results file (the RS2 file) to be loaded and displayed in the Post Processing Navigator without requiring the FEM.

  6. Click OK to create the event.
