Apply multiple smart selector methods

You can perform this procedure with any dialog box that lets you apply multiple smart selector methods.

  1. Click Stacked Smart Selector Methods .

  2. From the Method list, select the smart selector method to use.

  3. From the Selection type list, select the type of input. For example, you could use Selection to select all the nodes on a face or use Group to select a previously created group of entities.

  4. From the Filter Type list, select the desired entity to limit input selection.Note: The selection you make in the Method list determines the options available in the Filter Type list. For example, if you select Related Nodes, the options available in the Filter Type list are Point, Curve, Polygon Body, Polygon Face, Polygon Edge, Mesh, Element,Element Face, and Element Edge.

  5. Select the objects associated with the entities that you want to select.

  6. Complete the displayed options. The options displayed in the Smart Selector Methods dialog box vary, depending on the selected method. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.

  7. Click Commit method .The list table displays the number of objects that you selected when defining the input selection, the name of the smart selector method to be used, and the number of output objects selected based on the specified method, input selection, and other criteria.

  8. Repeat steps 2–7 until you have added all the desired smart selector methods and the final output selection matches the object type required by the original dialog box.For example, if you are using the Smart Selector Methods dialog box to select objects on which to apply pressure, the final output selection listed in the table must be a polygon face, mesh, or element face; otherwise, the OK and Apply buttons are not active. To remove a method from the list, right-click the last method in the table and choose Delete.

  9. Click OK.
