Importing and exporting table extrapolation options

Pre/Post honors the extrapolation options that you specify for data in a table field. This software imports and exports the EXTRAP field for the following Nastran table bulk data entries:

  • TABLEM1, TABLEM2, TABLEM3

  • TABLED1, TABLED2, TABLED3

  • TABLEST

In Pre/Post, you can use the options in the Values Outside Table list in the Table Field dialog box to control whether Nastran extrapolates the starting and ending data points.

  • If you select Undefined or Extrapolate, Simcenter Nastran extrapolates the two starting data points to obtain the table look-up when x < xi, and extrapolates the two ending data points to obtain the table look-up when x > xi. These options set the EXTRAP field to EXTRAP=0 when you export or solver your input file.

  • If you select Constant, Simcenter Nastran uses the value of the table field at the starting data point for the table look-up when x < xi, and use the value of the table field at the ending data point for the table look-up when x > xi. This option sets the EXTRAP field to EXTRAP=0 when you export or solver your input file.

Prior to release 11, Pre/Post did not import or export the EXTRAP field.

Note:

If you solve an input file that contains the EXTRAP field in Simcenter 3D 11 or later releases, the results may differ from a solve that you run for the same input file in NX 9 or NX 10. This difference occurs because Simcenter Nastran extrapolates the data points by default while Pre/Post sets the data points to a constant value by default.
