Exporting SPLINE2 elements
Pre/Post supports the SPLINE2 bulk data entry (linear spline) in aeroelastic analyses. You use linear splines to linearly interpolate motion and/or forces from a structural mesh to an aerodynamic mesh (Aero Panel and Aero Body mesh primitives). When you export or solve a model that includes linear splines, the software writes out the SPLINE2 bulk data entry as follows:
Pre/Post writes out an associated SET bulk data entry that lists the nodes in the structural mesh to which the SPLINE2 attaches.
The CAERO field on the SPLINE2 entry lists the ID of the associated Aero Panel (CAERO1 entry) or Aero Body mesh (CAERO2 entry). This ID is also the smallest element ID in the CAERO1 or CAERO2 mesh. The ID1 and ID2 are two element IDs in the same mesh. ID1 is always a smaller value than ID2.
For SPLINE2 entries associated with an Aero Body mesh (CAERO2 entry), Pre/Post does not export the CID and DTHX fields.
For SPLINE2 entries associated with an Aero Panel mesh (CAERO1 entry): Pre/Post writes out all fields on the SPLINE2 entry. If the Aero Panel mesh has an associated local coordinate system, Pre/Post writes out that data in a CORD2R entry. The CID field on the SPLINE2 entry associates the coordinate system with the linear spline.
