Box Surface Mesh Primitive dialog box
| Mesh Name | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Mesh Name | Specifies the name of the box surface mesh primitive. | ||
| Element Properties | |||
| Type | Specifies the type of elements to create. | ||
| Edit Mesh Associated Data | Appears when you select an element type that requires the definition of additional properties.Opens the Mesh Associated Data dialog box where you can define solver-specific properties for the elements. The software applies these properties uniformly to all the elements in the mesh. For more information, see Mesh-associated data. | ||
| Primitive Parameters | |||
| Method | Specifies the location of the box surface mesh primitive.At Center — Places the center of the box surface mesh primitive at the origin of the selected coordinate system.At Corner — Places the lower-left corner of the box surface mesh primitive at the origin of the selected coordinate system. The lower-left corner corresponds to the minimum X, Y, and Z values with respect to the selected coordinate system. | ||
| CSYS | Lets you create or select a coordinate system. The software creates the center of the box surface mesh primitive at the origin of the specified coordinate system.For more information, see CSYS dialog box. | ||
| Automatic Box Position and Size | If a coordinate system exists, places the coordinate system at the center of the model but does not change the orientation.If no coordinate system exists, this command creates a new one that is aligned with the absolute (global) coordinate system.This command also computes the size of the box using the location of the box surface mesh primitive and the size of the FE model. | ||
| Offset XOffset YOffset Z | Defines the distance to offset the center of the box surface primitive from the origin of the specified coordinate system in the X, Y, and Z directions. | ||
| Length XLength YLength Z | Defines the dimensions of the box surface in the X, Y, and Z directions. | ||
| Cutting Plane | |||
| XY PlaneYZ PlaneZX Plane | Lets you specify the plane to use to trim the mesh primitive. You can select up to three cutting planes to remove elements from the mesh primitive.For more information, see Trimming mesh primitives with cutting planes. | ||
| Mesh XY PlaneMesh YZ PlaneMesh ZX Plane | For each cutting plane that you specify, controls whether the software creates a mesh on the cutting plane.Box surface primitive trimmed on the YZ plane****Box surface primitive trimmed on the YZ plane with the YX plane meshed | Box surface primitive trimmed on the YZ plane | Box surface primitive trimmed on the YZ plane with the YX plane meshed |
| Box surface primitive trimmed on the YZ plane | Box surface primitive trimmed on the YZ plane with the YX plane meshed | ||
| Reverse Direction | Flips the direction of the vector that indicates the direction in which to keep elements. | ||
| Mesh Parameters | |||
| Maximum Element Size | Specifies the maximum element size for the mesh primitive.Type a size and select the units, or click Automatic Maximum Element Size to compute the maximum element size based on the size of the box.To specify the element size as a function of frequency, click the DesignLogic list and select Function to use the SizeForAcoustics function. For more information, see Element size for acoustic analysis. | ||
| Destination Collector | |||
| Automatic Creation | Creates a new mesh collector for the current mesh using the default physical properties. | ||
| Mesh Collector | Lets you select an existing collector or create a new one. Click New Collector to use the Mesh Collector dialog box to create additional mesh collectors. See Mesh collectors for more information. | ||
| Preview | |||
| Preview | Lets you preview the size, location, and appearance of the box surface mesh primitive elements in a dynamic view as you specify the necessary options. | ||
| Show Result | Lets you preview the box surface mesh primitive based on your current selections.Note: For performance purposes, the software limits the number of elements that you can dynamically preview. The final mesh may be different from the mesh that you preview. |
