Laminate Dynamics

Modify normal mode settings

When you select the Normal Modes [#] node in the Simulation Navigator, the Laminate Dynamics Details View subpanel displays the frequency, the viscous damping factor, and the damped frequency for each normal mode. The number in the square brackets indicates the number of active normal modes.

Modify the viscous damping factor for all modes

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Normal Modes [#] node and choose Edit All Damping Factors. The Edit Damping Factor dialog box is displayed.

  2. In the %Viscous box, enter the value for the viscous damping factor.

  3. Click OK.

Modify the viscous damping for some modes

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, select the Normal Modes [#] node.

  2. In the Laminate Dynamics Details View subpanel, right-click one or more mode rows and choose Edit Damping Factor. The Edit Damping Factor dialog box is displayed.

  3. In the %Viscous box, enter the value for the viscous damping factor.

  4. Click OK.

Deactivate some modes

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, select the Normal Modes [#] node.

  2. In the Laminate Dynamics Details View subpanel, r.Right-click one or more mode rows and choose Deactivate.Deselect the check box in front of the mode ID number.

To deactivate all modes, right-click the Normal Modes [#] node and choose Deactivate All.

You can also activate one mode or all modes at the same time.
