Materials
Create a material
You can create materials only if the Allow Local Materials customer default is selected.
Ensure that the FEM is the work or displayed part.
Choose Menu→Tools→Materials→Assign Materials or Manage Materials.Note: You can also create a material when you create or edit a physical property table.
In the Material List group, select Local Materials.
In the New Material group, select the material type from the Type list.
Click Create Material .
In the materials dialog box, enter a Name for the material.Note: Do not use a name that is the same as a library material. With assemblies, it is possible for two material records to use the same name if one is a library material and the other is a local material, or the two records are of different categories or material types. This situation can cause problems and should be avoided by using unique record names.
Enter values for material properties. You can define material properties with constants, expressions, or fields.To define a material property with a constant or expression, select Expression.You can use expressions to define how a material property varies with respect to an independent domain. For example, you can use an expression to define how the Young’s modulus of a material varies with temperature.For more information on expressions, see Expressions.To define a material property with a field, select Field.You can use fields to define how a material property varies with respect to an independent domain. Click OK.The new material appears in the Materials list.
Click Cancel to close the dialog box.
Note:
The new material is saved directly in the current FEM. To add this material to a custom material library, see Add a new material definition to a custom library.
