Contact Property dialog box (Abaqus)
| Modeling Object | |
|---|---|
| Name | Sets the name of the modeling object. |
| Label | Sets a unique numerical identifier for the modeling object. This label also appears in the Modeling Objects Manager dialog box, and you can filter the objects listed in that dialog box by their label. |
| Contact Pair Parameter | |
| Mechanical Constraint Method | Specifies the method for enforcing contact constraints. It corresponds to the MECHANICAL CONSTRAINT parameter for the *CONTACT PAIR keyword.KinematicUses a kinematic predictor/corrector contact algorithm to strictly enforce contact constraints. PenaltyUses the penalty contact algorithm, which more weakly enforces the contact constraints but allows for more types of contact. |
| Sliding Contact Formulation | Appears when Mechanical Constraint Method is set to Kinematic.Specifies the sliding contact formulation to use. This option corresponds to the SMALL SLIDING parameter for the *CONTACT PAIR keyword.FiniteUses the finite sliding contact formulation, which allows for arbitrary separation, sliding, and rotation of the surfaces.SmallUses the small sliding contact formulation, which assumes that surfaces undergo large rotations but that a slave node interacts with the same local area of the master surface throughout the analysis. Contact pairs that use the small sliding contact formulation must be defined in the first step of the solution although they can remain active after the first step. |
| Weighting Factor | Specifies the master-slave weighting factor for the contact surfaces. Select Specify to enter a weighting factor or Default to use the default weighting factor. It corresponds to the WEIGHT parameter for the *CONTACT PAIR keyword. |
| Specify Master-Slave Weighting | Appears when Weighting Factor is set to Specify.Sets a value from 0.0 to 1.0 to set weighting factor. Type 1.0 to designate the first surface in the contact pair as the master surface and the second surface as the slave surface. Type 0.0 to designate the first surface in the contact pair as the slave surface and the second surface as the master surface. Type any value between 0 and 1.0 to set the balanced master-slave contact algorithm. |
| Surface Interaction Property | Specifies a surface interaction property modeling object.Select a modeling object from the list or click Create Modeling Object to create one. The Surface Interaction Property defines a mechanical surface interaction model to govern contact interactions. For more information, see Surface Interaction dialog box (Abaqus) and *SURFACE INTERACTION in the Abaqus Keywords Reference Guide. |
| Uniform Clearance for the Surfaces | |
| Initial Clearance in the First Step | Appears when Mechanical Constraint Method is set to Kinematic and Sliding Contact Formulation is set to Small.Defines an initial clearance (must be a positive value). An initial clearance is only valid for the first step of the simulation. |
| Initial Clearance Value | Sets the initial clearance. |
